Lighting

Good lighting doesn’t just happen. It requires a careful balance of aesthetics and practicalities to create a look that is attractive, comfortable and able to provide the right illumination to the myriad of tasks that are undertaken in the home on a daily basis.

Here are some tips and advice for apartment living and how to achieve good lighting in a new apartment:

  • Remember that different areas require different lights. What works wonderfully in the kitchen doesn’t usually translate well in the bedroom;
  • Lighting doesn’t have to be boring – it can add a sense of drama while casting strong light and serving its purpose;
  • Natural light can be an apartment’s best friend, so harness it’s power to light up the environment;
  • Different heights and layers of both floor and table lamps will add warmth and ambience; and
  • Enhance lighting schemes with additional features such as mirrors, glass and other reflective surfaces to add interest
